This lamp socket that is used in high volumes in an automotive lighting application is made on a Bihler bending machine. The combination of the closed geometry (either in this rectangular shape or perfectly round) while using only a minium of material is one of the many strengths that can be achieved on a Bihler machine. It requires special tooling with a specific cutting and bending section.
